Securing Exchange 2000, Part One

This article is the first of a two-part series that will to provide a technical look at some of the fundamental requirements for securing Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 and Outlook Web Access (OWA) running in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment. I will start by looking at some exploits for Exchange server to give readers an idea of areas that need protection. Then I’ll get right into the Exchange application and discuss some of its inherent security features, as well as some secure network designs for Exchange/OWA deployments.
